My name is Sehrish and two months ago I went to a restaurant with my cousin where we waited almost forty minutes for our food while tables that arrived after us had already been served.
I was hungry and frustrated but I did not want to make a scene, so I decided to speak to the waiter politely and clearly.
I called the waiter over and said calmly, "Excuse me, we have been waiting for about forty minutes. Could you please check on our order?"
The waiter apologised immediately and went to the kitchen, then came back to explain that one of our dishes had been made incorrectly and they were remaking it.
He offered us a complimentary appetiser while we waited and the correct food arrived ten minutes later.
Complaining politely in English is a very useful skill — you do not need to be rude or raise your voice, you just need to be clear, specific and calm.
Most restaurant staff respond much better to a polite request than to an angry demand, and this approach has worked every time I have used it since.

वेटर को बुलाकर शांति से कहा, "माफ कीजिए, हमें लगभग चालीस मिनट हो गए हैं। क्या ऑर्डर चेक कर सकते हैं?"
वेटर ने तुरंत माफी माँगी और रसोई गया, फिर वापस आकर बताया एक डिश गलत बनी थी और दोबारा बनाई जा रही है।
उसने इंतज़ार के दौरान मुफ्त स्टार्टर पेश किया और दस मिनट बाद सही खाना आ गया।
अंग्रेजी में शिष्टता से शिकायत करना बहुत उपयोगी कौशल है — रूखे होने या आवाज़ उठाने की ज़रूरत नहीं, बस स्पष्ट, विशिष्ट और शांत रहना है।
ज़्यादातर रेस्तरां कर्मचारी गुस्से की माँग से बेहतर विनम्र अनुरोध पर जवाब देते हैं, और यह तरीका हर बार काम आया है।
