My name is Palwasha and there are ten numbers on every mobile phone keypad from zero to nine.
Every phone number in Pakistan has eleven digits and I learned my own number by heart.
My teacher taught us that every digit has a place value.
In five hundred and forty seven the five is in the hundreds place and is actually worth five hundred.
I always thought the numbers were just sitting next to each other but place value changed everything.
When I see one million I now understand it means a one followed by six zeros.
Numbers are like codes and once you understand the code you can read any number in the world.
میرا نام پلوشہ ہے اور ہر موبائل فون کی پیڈ پر صفر سے نو تک دس نمبر ہوتے ہیں۔
پاکستان میں ہر فون نمبر میں گیارہ ہندسے ہیں اور میں نے اپنا نمبر یاد کر لیا۔
ٹیچر نے سکھایا کہ ہر ہندسے کی ایک مقام کی قدر ہوتی ہے۔
پانچ سو سینتالیس میں پانچ سیکڑوں کی جگہ پر ہے اور دراصل پانچ سو کے برابر ہے۔
میں ہمیشہ سوچتی تھی نمبر بس ایک دوسرے کے پاس بیٹھے ہیں لیکن مقام کی قدر نے سب بدل دیا۔
جب دس لاکھ دیکھتی ہوں تو اب سمجھتی ہوں اس کا مطلب ایک کے بعد چھ صفر ہیں۔
نمبر کوڈ کی طرح ہیں اور کوڈ سمجھ لیں تو دنیا کا کوئی بھی نمبر پڑھ سکتے ہیں۔
मेरा नाम पलवशा है और हर मोबाइल फोन पैड पर शून्य से नौ तक दस नंबर होते हैं।
पाकिस्तान में हर फोन नंबर में ग्यारह अंक हैं और मैंने अपना नंबर याद कर लिया।
टीचर ने सिखाया कि हर अंक का एक स्थान मान होता है।
पाँच सौ सैंतालीस में पाँच सैकड़ों के स्थान पर है और दरअसल पाँच सौ के बराबर है।
हमेशा सोचती थी नंबर बस एक-दूसरे के पास हैं लेकिन स्थान मान ने सब बदल दिया।
जब दस लाख देखती हूँ तो अब समझती हूँ इसका मतलब एक के बाद छह शून्य हैं।
नंबर कोड की तरह हैं और कोड समझ लें तो दुनिया का कोई भी नंबर पढ़ सकते हैं।
