My name is Hameed and I feel very nervous before every exam. My stomach feels tight, I cannot eat properly and my hands feel cold on exam day. My mother makes me sit and breathe slowly five times then asks me to say one thing I know for sure. I say the answer and she smiles and says see you know this. My teacher says nervousness before a test is good because it shows you care about doing well. A little nervousness sharpens your focus but panic makes you forget everything. I have learned that preparation is the best cure for exam nerves. When I study properly I still feel nervous but I feel ready at the same time. Nervousness and readiness can live together.
میرا نام حمید ہے اور مجھے ہر امتحان سے پہلے بہت گھبراہٹ ہوتی ہے۔ پیٹ تنگ ہو جاتا ہے، ٹھیک سے کھانا نہیں کھا پاتا اور امتحان کے دن ہاتھ ٹھنڈے ہو جاتے ہیں۔ امی مجھے بٹھا کر پانچ بار آہستہ سانس لینے کو کہتی ہیں پھر پوچھتی ہیں ایک یقینی چیز بتاؤ۔ میں جواب دیتا ہوں اور وہ مسکراتی ہیں اور کہتی ہیں دیکھو تمہیں یہ آتا ہے۔ ٹیچر کہتے ہیں امتحان سے پہلے گھبراہٹ اچھی ہے کیونکہ ظاہر کرتی ہے آپ اچھا کرنا چاہتے ہیں۔ تھوڑی گھبراہٹ توجہ تیز کرتی ہے لیکن گھبراہٹ سب بھلا دیتی ہے۔ میں نے سیکھا کہ تیاری امتحانی اعصاب کا بہترین علاج ہے۔ جب صحیح سے پڑھتا ہوں تو پھر بھی گھبراتا ہوں لیکن ساتھ تیار بھی محسوس کرتا ہوں۔ گھبراہٹ اور تیاری ایک ساتھ رہ سکتے ہیں۔
