My name is Zarqa and my cousin got the same phone I had been asking for for six months.
When I saw her with it at a family gathering I felt something uncomfortable in my chest.
It took me two days to understand that the feeling was jealousy and I did not like it.
My mother said jealousy is only a problem when you act on it — feeling it is human.
She asked me to write five things I had that my cousin did not.
I wrote a long list of nice things I had never thought about because I was busy looking at what I did not have.
Jealousy points at what is missing and gratitude points at what is there — you choose which direction to look.
