My name is Rohaan and I have a problem with anger — when something goes wrong heat rises in my face and I want to shout. Last year I broke my pencil case by throwing it after getting a low grade. My father sat with me and asked what I felt before throwing it and I said it felt like pressure needing to come out. He said the pressure is real but the target was wrong. He taught me to count slowly to ten in English when I feel the heat rising. He also told me to press my hands flat on a cold surface like a table because the cold distracts my brain from the anger. I have not broken anything since that conversation. Anger is not a bad emotion but where you point it makes all the difference. You can be angry at a problem without being angry at the people around you.
