My name is Sajid and at the end of class nine our form teacher brought a metal tin and asked each student to put in one small object representing who they were at that moment — to be sealed and not opened for ten years. I tore a small corner from my rough book and wrote on it the thing I most wanted to be when I grew up and the name of the person I admired most. Other students put in a coin a bus ticket a friendship bracelet and a joke on paper before the teacher sealed the tin. Our teacher said in ten years some of you will be very different people some will be exactly who you are now just older and some will be surprised by what you put in. The time capsule made me think seriously about who I was at that age in a way that no exam or assignment ever had — I still wonder about that folded piece of paper.
