My name is Lubaina and I went to an airport for the first time when my uncle was flying to Saudi Arabia for work.
Nothing prepared me for how large and how loud the real airport is — the terminal was enormous with high ceilings.
The screens showed departure destinations — London Dubai Riyadh Kuala Lumpur — each name felt like a doorway to somewhere different.
When my uncle disappeared through the departure gate my youngest cousin started crying.
Airports are places of both excitement and sadness at the same time.
They remind you that the world is very large and that people you love can move to any corner of it.
