My name is Dawood.
I am fourteen years old and I want to tell you about my first time cooking a meal completely alone.
Last year my mother fell sick for three days and my father was away for work.
I had never cooked a proper meal before but I had watched my mother cook hundreds of times.
I decided to try making rice and daal.
I fried onions until they were golden and added tomatoes and chili powder.
The smell was actually quite good which surprised me very much.
I gave a bowl to my sick mother and her eyes became watery.
She said it was delicious even though I think she was just being kind.
My sister ate everything without complaining which was the biggest success.
That day I learned that cooking is not as difficult as it looks.
Feeding someone who is sick or in need is one of the most loving things a person can do.
